For some time now, Blogger has been acting weird. It probably does so, to get me to transfer to the 'new' Blogger. But I just want it to work! And if I transfer to the new Blogger, I'll lose all my info! I'll probably figure it out someday, but for now, the site will just look wacky. Hopefully not for long.

UK Games Expo is a games exhibition and fair modeled on the Essen Spiel fair, Origins and Gencon. Games companies come and exhibit games which visitors can try out. A strong thrust is attracting new gamers and families but it aims to be a show case of what is best and new in gaming and so to appeal to gaming enthusiasts. The event includes board games, card games, miniatures games and roleplaying games alongwith some computer gaming. The first UK Games Expo was in June 2007.

Games & products being demonstrated at UK Games Expo are eligible for entry into the awards. Games Companies may define which category their product falls within. Here are the categories:

Gra Roku & Middle East Toy Fair

The Polish Game of the Year (Gra Roku) and Gamers' Choice Award are both for Agricola.

At the Middle East Toy Fair HABA's The Color Dwarfs won an award in the Boardgame category.

Japan Boardgame Prize 2008

Wie Verhext! has won the 2008 Japan Boardgame Prize. From now on the award will no longer be awarded in four categories, but just one. A special prize will follow for best Beginner / Family Game.

As d'Or 2009

The 2009 As d'Or (France) goes to Dixit. Agricola gets a special jury prize and Chateau Roquefort wins the As d'Or for Children's Games.

"The IAGO Hall of Fame is the place where IAGO honors everything historically significant that involves abstract strategy games. Inductees into the IAGO Hall of Fame are selected by the IAGO Standards Committee based on their historical significance and influence. Their historical significance and influence involves things such as regional and global popularity, longevity, and innovations in play mechanics that spawned entirely new classes of abstract strategy games. In the future, categories for induction will be expanded to cover more than games."
